400 Small Block Swap - Page 4

(Please be patient, as there are ALOT of photos, tho I've divided amongst a number of pages)

Here we are unwrapping the block after all the machining was done. Once again a plug to Dan Klim to did the machining for me.

My first setback, and WOO!, what a setback. While I was chasing the treads of the block, the chase stopped as I was backing out of one of the head bolts. I went to Glenn, who then tried to help me get this out without damaging the block. We tried a few things, but no luck and I ended up breaking the chase .... IN THE BLOCK!

At the point, I was really to flip out ... thinking to myself that maybe I should of just gone to a machine or car supershop and just bought an engine already put together. All I could think about was the amount of money I had spent on the block and how it might be flushing down the drain.

Once again, DAN KLIM TO THE RESCUE!. I brought the block into the city and took it over to Dan's place. Over the next few hours, a few drill bits and screwdrivers later, we got the chase out. After all that, we ended up putting a helix-coil into the block.
Glenn takes a peek at the work done by Dan to get the chase out.

A Picture of all the new parts layed out on the bench, including my Keith Black Hypertentic Pistons :)

A Picture of the crank, after being cut 0.010/0.010 and Glenn cleaning the journals.

Here we are getting ready to install the crank. Glenn is taking care of installing the Rear Main Seal. After installing the crank, we began to torque it down.

Voila!, the crank is in ...
