A few shots of the Stock Engine - March 18/2000 before bringing Project MEAN GREEN.

Here's a screen capture 'DeskTop Dyno' analyst of my Stock Setup

My Good Friend & Co-Worker Glenn.

Pulled the car into Glenn's Garage ... whom was nice enough to lend to me for my project. This is it for the 'Stock' setup.
(The second thoughts are running wild thru my head ... What the hell am I able to do ...)

Let's Begin...

Slowly unbolting everything, drained the fluids, and unhooking the electrical.

Hard at work, I'm under the car unbolting the driveshaft and then tranny crossmember

A pic of some of the new parts I'll be installing & supplies being used ...

End of Day 1, the Motor & Tranny are ready to be yanked out.

UP!, UP! and AWAY!!!

A Shot of the Motor & Tranny after being yanked out

Once the motor was out, I inspected the flywheel, as a few years, when I was working at a gas/service station, one of the mechanics told me my flywheel was warped. We found no warpage, but did find a nice chuck of teeth missing.
(Another $40 I didn't need...)

Casting Numbers from the Engine Block

Here I am painting the motor after I washed it all down. Figured I'd get a few coats on while everything was together and I didn't really have to worry about overspray.

After a few coats of Paint, that's it for the night.

Here a picture where for the First Time EVER, the valve covers have ever been off since NEW!!
Notice how clean it is.... Pays to keep up regular maintenace!!

Off with the Valve Covers and Old Intake

After some discussion with Glenn, and really thinking it over, I decided to have the heads rebuilt ...
I went with a 3 angle valve grind, new bronze valve guides, new springs and new valve seals. THE WORKS!!

Found some crap in my Oil Pan. It appears to be some of the nylon gearing coating from the original timing gear. My Oil Pickup was almost plugged with this crap.
Didn't realize that was in there when I had flipped over the motor to take off the Oil Pan Cover, alot of it fell back into the block.
So we flipped the motor back over cleaned out all of the remaining debris.

My oil pump has some wear on it, as when I've been discussing with Glenn, Glenn really harped on replacing the oil pump while the motor out and apart. Easy to replace on a stand then from under the car at a later date.
Another $35 bucks for an Oil Pump :)

Here's a shot of the bottom end... Looks nice and clean eh?

The engine is out, and awaiting the heads, as well as some other parts.
I took this time to clean up and paint the engine compartment.

Here's a shot of the valve covers and pulleys being painted 'Chevy Orange'.

Here's a shot of Glenn chasing the threads on the block.

Picked up the Rebuilt Heads for the car ...

Installation of the Heads ...
