The Nova Enthusiasts of Winnipeg car club was formed/founded in August 1999. A couple of us Nova enthusiasts were just hanging around and we realized that there was no real *car club* we could fit into. There was the Pontiac Association, full of Pontiacs, Mustang Club, Grand National/Regal Club, Fabulous Fiftys for the old OLD cars, Corvette Club, but nothing for us Chevy II/Novas. One Sunday Night at Pony Coral, where a few of us (DaveM, Steven, Trevor & Derek) gather on sunday nights to hang out, decided it was time for a club for us Chevy II/Nova enthusiasts.

As we talked to other Nova Owners about whether they'd be enough interested in a club. Some people showed some interest and that if anything came of it, to count them in.

A name was decided amongst a few members and NOVA ENTHUSIASTS OF WINNIPEG, it was. A website was started and slowly, cars and members were being added. The website would be idle for members to show off their rides, as well as all Nova Enthusiasts from ALL over the world could glance and see what kinds of Novas were here in Winnipeg.

As the weeks went by and we were slowly adding members to our club. By Spring of 2000, the club had doubled from it's original 4 members to 9 members. A year later (Sept 2000), it almost doubled again. We had 17 members.

Seeing how this club wasn't costing anyone anything, we did not bother with fees or dues of any kind. The basis for the club was for people to gather, hang out around others with the same interests in vehicles as you.

I was hoping in 2001, that we would all get together and discuss the direction of the club, of course, once I get everybodys info. That'll help out ALOT! in ways I can contact members. Right now our only contact in on the street and cruising places.

By 2002, there were 8 members. I thought maybe I would have to try to be more agressive and steer our club forward.... to what?... I dunno. I was hoping that *we* as a club, would take part in various car shows as a group, maybe even get involved with helping out/doing some charity work.

In Sept of 2000, a couple members (Trevor & I) took part in the 5th Annual Huntington's Indy Go-Kart Challenge under the N.E.W. Clb name and we raised $300 for Huntington's Disease. It was a 6 member team for the event and we didn't have the members to make up a team, so some family members pitched in to help us out. We only had a week to prepare for this.

The club kinda fell into the back scene in 2003. I started a new job which didn't leave me much free time.

Towards the end of the summer in 2004, realizing the club was pretty low-key, many new members expressing interest and wanting to join. Having a little more free time, I tired to get the club rolling again.

I planned to update the site completely in 2005, by contacting members to see who's still in and who was out. I tried to plan a get together, either to have a club night out once a month, or to get together and head out to Car Shows intown and out of town, together under the club name but that didn't go so well.

The following few years past, really no one has been running things ... however some of us remain in touch with each other via car shows/gatherings. The club experienced a surge of people interested from outside Manitoba, in joining our club. A new chapter/section of the club was added in 2006. 'Friends of N.E.W.' This section is for the members outside of Manitoba, who are part of our club, but are just ... outside of our city/province. Neverless, they are as much of a member and welcomed as you and I.

Our 10th year anniversy came and gone quietly, as the club again kept a low profile.

October 2011, and I look through the site and realise .... we need to get back in touch, get out there and I'm starting this by revamping the website with a new look, as well as updating the profiles. I also have some applications stored in email I need to store thru and add to the club. Time to get my ass in gear!

For thoses of you who have the Pontiac Acadians, Pontiac Ventura, Olds Omegas and Buick Apollo are ALL welcome into our club !!, ALL Corporate Cousins are welcome in N.E.W !!
