400 Small Block Swap - Page 10

(Please be patient, as there are ALOT of photos, tho I've divided amongst a number of pages)

We get ready to roll the nova outside, Kelly's got his camcorder in hand to tape the startup & cam break-in.

Car was turning over, but not starting up and then BANG!!, Glenn comes over to ask if I had the distributor in 180-out ...

No pictures were taken of me pulling out the distributor and turning over the motor once and then reinstalling it as I was putting upset ... cranky ...

There we go ... the 400 roars with LIFE !!!, Mileage on the car at the time was 136666.4. Now to break-in the cam ...

Time for a quick pic, chatting with Kelly & Kyle, who were kinda laughing at the distributor whoopsy.

Glenn's neighbor on the far right (Glenn's Left) came over after when he thought was gun-fire ... then walked across the street to see what we blew up this time ...

After breaking in the cam, I thought the Nova for a quick spin. Drove down the block to the highway and onto the highway for a quick spin. I didn't have 3 miles on the motor yet when a 5L pulls up beside me, and of course the hood wasn't on the car yet, takes a look and wants to play ...

Come see me in about 2500 miles ...

Time to put the hood back on, I think at this point Glenn has had enough of me ... and can't wait to get the Green-Beater outta his garage :).

May I present ... Project: MEAN GREEN!!, Part Deux

Now it's my turn to win a few races ...

Within the first few days of the 406, I noticed the motor ran pretty warm, around the 200-210 mark. It was time to upgrade the cooling system and I did just that.

Thanks to Custom Rad for building me a 4-Core HighFlow Aluminum Rad for my nova. They also went as far as installing a truck tranny cooler inside the tank for extra cooling of the tranny so there is no need for me to have an external tranny cooler.

Next on the list, will be installing some SubFrame Connector and a MSD-like unit ...
